# 2: Severe Risk to Life - Earthing
A good earthing system provided by the distribution company (PME) - A.
Subsequent customer installation compromised the safety of the whole installation by faulty workmanship.
Faults identified:
- Incorrect use of the distributor's supply cable as the Main Earth - B,
- Multiple Main Earth Terminals (MET) with no direct connection to incoming head. Also many irrelevant earth cables inserted in the METs with no identification. The earth cables connected to Consumer Units were of insufficient size - C,
- Outer lead sheath had been stripped off incoming supply cable to fit incorrect earth straps. This had severely compromised the safe use of the distributor's main supply cable - D,
