# 3: Severe Risk to Life - Bad Wiring

Metalclad consumer unit (CU) with rewireable fuses used to feed two ring circuits wired in Mineral Insulated Cables (MIC). Due to bad workmanship, ends of each MIC had been cut too short to reach fuse connections directly.

Faults identified:

• MIC ends extended with screw connectors partly covered in blue tape inside the CU. All MIC exposed cores covered in black sleeving with no indication as to Live / Neutral or as to which circuit. - A,
• 25mm knockout in the base of the CU had been left open with live parts excessible within the CU - B,
